Surrender or Stay Stuck

You can’t walk in the light while holding on to what keeps you in darkness. Real change doesn’t begin with effort— it begins with surrender. And what you refuse to let go of may be the very thing keeping you stuck.
Surrender or Stay Stuck
The blueprint for building Kingdom families

Why do people remain stuck… even when they know what needs to change?

Why does transformation feel close—but never fully realized?

Because transformation requires a transfer of allegiance.

You cannot walk in the light
while still holding on to the patterns of darkness.

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” — Colossians 1:13

Many try to live in both.

Holding on to old ways… while reaching for new outcomes.

This produces:

  • surface-level change
  • external performance
  • but no real power

Because true transformation does not happen outwardly first.

It begins in the heart.

But here is the truth:

You cannot change your own heart.

God never called us to simply be “good.”

He calls us to be righteous
and righteousness is not produced by effort,
but by transformation.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you…” — Ezekiel 36:26

This is why surrender is required.

Because only God has the power to make you new.

Surrender begins when you let go of living independently of Him.

It is not a one-time moment.

It is daily.
Hourly.
Moment by moment.

It looks like:

  • becoming aware of thoughts that don’t align
  • choosing obedience over preference
  • turning away from behaviors that don’t honor God
  • and continually seeking His direction

This is repentance.

Not a single decision—
but an ongoing posture.

And this is where many remain stuck.

Not because they don’t want change…
but because they avoid what transformation requires.

They avoid:

  • self-awareness
  • confronting pain, hurt, and trauma
  • allowing God’s love to reach deep places
  • seeking help when it’s needed

Because acknowledging weakness can feel like shame.

But the truth is:

“My power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

What you hide will not heal.

What you avoid will remain.

And what you refuse to surrender
will continue to control you.

The Reality

You cannot experience transformation
while holding on to what is preventing it.

Surrender is not losing control—

It is finally coming into alignment with the One who has it.

What’s Next

So the question becomes:

What are you still holding on to?

What patterns, environments, or relationships are keeping you stuck?

What pain have you avoided confronting?

And what would actually change
if you fully surrendered—consistently?

Most people want transformation.

But few are willing to walk it out daily.

In the next post, we’ll break down what surrender looks like in the home—and how to begin applying this immediately.
